Nice people go to festivals
Sadly the season of summer festivals has drawn to a close and for those of you who managed to get to one (or maybe four!) this year, we hope you had a great time. Some festivals basked in glorious sunshine and others rocked despite the very er, British summer. Nevertheless, we are proud to report that Release's Nice People Take Drugs campaign benefited from some high profile legitimate presence (V Festival), as well as some renegade guerilla tactics (SW4)! Our team of volunteers had trouble keeping up with the demand for freebies like our bright orange wristbands, NPTD stickers and badges. We also sold a whole bunch of Tshirts, so thanks to those of you who stuck a sticker on your shirt/chest/face this year and helped spread the campaign message. There's a selection of photos in the NPTD gallery.
Amongst all the fun - and there's no doubt that festivals are always a lot of fun (if you can remember where your tent is, that is - Ed.), Release was also there to spread a serious message. Criminalising young people doesn't make drugs safer. Throwing heroin users in prison doesn't treat their addiction. Banning the latest 'legal high' doesn't stop kids trying the next one. Pretending that you're winning the war, doesn't mean that you are.
Nice People Take Drugs - join the campaign.
