Release's response to the Home Office Consultation on revisions to Code A of the PACE Codes of Practice.

Release welcomes many of the proposed revisions to Code A of the PACE Codes of Practice, in relation to stop and searches which require reasonable suspicion.  However, we do not feel that the Home Office has gone as far as might have in some areas.  In particular, we are disappointed that the issue of strip searches as part of stop and search was not addressed in the consultation.  We also have serious concerns about the lack of guidance and regulations around safeguarding of children, especially those under the age of 10, who are subjected to stop and search.
