It’s with a heavy heart that we share the news that Peter Krykant has passed away. Peter was an incredible campaigner for the rights of communities that use drugs. The opening of the unsanctioned drug consumption van in 2020 had a profound impact not only on the many people who stayed safe when using the van, but also on the debate and the eventual establishment of a sanctioned facility earlier this year in Glasgow.
Peter placed himself at great personal risk doing this work, and his work will have a lasting impact in the UK and beyond. He was a Release Trustee from 2021, and our team and community are heavy with grief over his death.
Our condolences, thoughts and love are with his family and friends at this very difficult time.
