Tobacco

Pharmacology

The nicotine in tobacco works by acting on the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, specifically in the kidneys (adrenal gland) and central nervous system (CNS). It is thought to enhance the sensitivity of several neurotransmitters including acetylcholine, and possibly dopamine which give the user feelings of relaxation and slight euphoria associated with smoking.
