This document was submitted in response to the Prisons Strategy White Paper Consultation on 4th February, 2022. Release’s response specifically addressed the following Prisons Strategy proposals: the prison build roadmap; a zero-tolerance approach to drugs; GPS-enabled and alcohol abstinence-monitoring electronic tagging expansion; piloting the introduction of drugs testing of staff; investment in drug dogs and other drug-detection methods; the focus on recovery and abstinence-based treatment; and initiatives to aid the custody-community transition.
