Policy responses

StopWatch and Release’s consultation response to HMICFRS’s 2019/20 policing inspection programme and framework.
With drug-related deaths at their highest ever level, Release is calling for the inclusion of a sub-indicator in the Public Health Outcomes Framework to record drug-related deaths to drive public spending towards preventing serious public health harms.
Release has submitted evidence to an independent review into the employment outcomes of drug or alcohol addiction, asserting that proposals to make treatment a condition of welfare benefit entitlement is unlawful, unethical, unworkable and unnecessary.
In July 2014 Public Health England opened a consultation into whether the current 'Drug misuse and dependence: UK guidelines on clinical management' should be reviewed. Release's position is that the Guidelines should not be subject to review due to a real risk that the process will be politicised.
